Harvest's Vision and Mission

Our Vision: God's Expanding Kingdom

Jesus told his disciples to pray for the establishment of God's Kingdom on earth. He also commissioned his followers to participate with God in that work - to disciple all nations, teaching them to obey his commandments. Key commandments, He said, are to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves. Clearly, "neighbors" includes both believers and nonbelievers.

By both proclaiming God's love and by demonstrating love through acts of kindness and care, Christians reflect God's love and are able, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to give effective witness to the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ. Such action brings healing where there is brokenness and encourages nonbelievers to become followers of Jesus Christ, thereby extending the Kingdom of God. Our vision is to see churches obeying Christ's commandments and fulfilling the Great Commission. Our passion is to see churches become embassies of the Kingdom of God, advocating for the rule of Christ in every area of life and serving others in their communities.

Harvest's Mission: To Disciple Local Churches

/files/images/Mission.jpgAll too often, churches do not fully reflect the intentions of Christ. They have emphasized the proclamation of the Gospel and calling their members to lives of holiness, but often fail to demonstrate God's love by showing love to their neighbors.

Harvest's mission is to awaken the leaders of local churches to Christ's full intentions for those who profess faith in Him. Once awakened, Harvest provides the teaching resources that enable church leaders to disciple their members, bringing them to a mature understanding of Christian responsibilities. In addition, this teaching shows the churches how to put their new understanding into practice, developing a lifestyle of service to the needs of others.

In this work, Harvest is an agent of God's agenda. We are servants of restoration - from the brokenness caused by sin to the biblical wholeness of God's desire for all of life.

God clearly calls believers to this kind of active faith, made alive via works of love. Through the prophet Isaiah, He said, "Is this not the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter - when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn way from your own flesh and blood?"

In the same vein, Jesus referred to the time when He will return in His glory: "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'"
